Does my computer need to be on?

  • If you are using the desktop version then yes, you computer needs to be on.
    • Your computer needs to be on and the eMinder messaging engine needs to be running during the periods that messages need to be sent. For most people, this will be during the day (6 A.M.- 10 P.M.). You can shut your computer down overnight if no messages are scheduled.
    • We recommend you have eMinder configured to start with Windows if you shut your computer down overnight or periodically (One less thing to think about.).
    • You can minimize eMinder to the system tray without affecting your messages.
  • You don't need your computer on to receive text messages if you are using the online version.  The online version runs 24/7/365 and is maintained on our servers.
  • Your phone needs to be on when you expect to receive reminders.

May I use the eMinder to send reminder messages for any purpose?  (Are there any limitations?)

  • eMinder Personal Edition can be used for any purpose that is non-commercial in nature.
  • Using eMinder Personal Edition or eMinder Online for SPAM is explicitly prohibited and a violation Cogi System's terms and conditions.

How many phone numbers can eMinder handle?

  • The Personal Edition has no limit.
  • The Online subscription is limited to 20.

Are there any issues with firewalls or anti-virus software?

  • Firewalls can block ports and prevent eMinder Personal Edition from performing its duties. Be sure that both the application and the messaging service engine have access to the internet.
  • You should not have to completely disable any of these security programs for eMinder to work correctly.
  • Since eMinder Personal Edition does not act as server, port forwarding is not necessary.

Language Support

  • eMinder supports all languages using the Roman alphabet are supported.

What is the difference between the desktop and online versions?

  • The desktop version is an application that you download and install on your local PC and pay a one-time license fee.
  • The online version is a web application that register an account for and log into using any standard web browser.
  • The Online version is available anywhere you have internet access and a web browser.

  • All inquires will be addressed, but please understand that it may take up to 48 hours to respond.

What basic detail must I know about the recipient to send a message?

  • The mobile number, carrier and an description label are the minimum requirements to create a recipient.

I am not receiving messages in a timely manner.

  • Check your message logs.
    • If the message transaction times are when they should be, then you may want to follow up with your carrier if the problem persists. Sometime, they have issues that delay but do not ultimately obstruct the message.
  • Check your message detail to be sure that you configured it correctly.
    • When using the hourly setting, the end time must be PAST the time of the last message you expect to receive. i.e) If you expect your last message at 08:00 PM and the end time is set to 08:00 PM, then no message will be sent. Set the end time to 08:01 PM to insure that the message will go out at 08:00 PM..
  • If you are using the online version
    • Check to make sure that you have selected the correct time zone.
